The Pros and Cons of Planning Poker

Planning Poker has been a topic of debate for decades in the Agile community. Some praise it for enhancing team collaboration and improving estimation accuracy, while others question its effectiveness and suitability, even within mature Agile organisations.

It’s no surprise that its use becomes even more contentious in traditional environments.

What’s clear is that there’s no one-size-fits-all answer for when or where to use Planning Poker. I’ve seen it succeed in both Agile and traditional organisations, but also fall short, even in highly mature Agile settings.

In this presentation, I’m sharing my insights on the pros and cons of Planning Poker and exploring key factors to consider before adopting it for your team.

Feel free to reach out if you are finding challenging using Planning Poker in your organisation.
